REDLINERSSSS, ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLEEEE!!! - echoed across the walls of the Redline Arena as Fazry and I flagged off heat number 1 of the Women's Singles Category signifying the start of the Redline Fitness Games and when I say the energy was electrifying throughout the weekend, I say so with no hyperbole. In fact, as I write this, I feel that I am understating how big and powerful the energy was.

Being the first of its kind, The Redline team has created something that has never been seen or experienced before in Malaysia. Athletes of all backgrounds came together to test and push their limits as the Redline Fitness Games provided an opportunity for normal everyday people who practice a healthy lifestyle by going to the gym, boutique fitness classes or even hardcore crossfit gyms a challenge to see where they are at with their fitness, and to also provide a goal to look towards. Walking through the arena, I was met with many familiar faces who expressed to me that this was exactly what they needed to help keep their fitness journey going as a form of measure and accountability towards building their fitness levels. For some, it also allows them to test their competitive spirits maybe not with others, but solely with themselves. In a way, this also validates all the hard work that they have made throughout the years in attending their fitness classes or however they keep their fitness as it rejuvenates their love for keeping fit.

For Fazry and I, it also gave us a new challenge as we got to work the mic and emcee throughout the whole two days, aiming to keep the redliners energetic and focused as they go through one of their biggest challenges to date. I won’t comment too much on how we did as I will leave that to the redline team and the redliners to judge but I got to live out my announcer/commentating dream for a little bit and I only hope that it was good enough to keep the redliners going. We were also grateful to have Ifa as an emcee as well, who was doing it for the first time and not only did she do exceptionally well, she also killed it when asked to be the social media interviewer for Redline. I was told by the head of social media for the event that Ifa surprised them as she maintained her bubbly personality while keeping her composure with the Invitational Athletes who were nothing short of intimidating throughout the many interviews that she had to do. Not only that, we also had Shak to represent Journey as he entered the Mens Open Category and completed the whole course in 35 minutes and 2 seconds! For someone who does not regularly train for these kind of events, it is a very respectable time and we at Journey are extremely proud of his accomplishments!

The Redline Fitness Games is a race through 12 functional fitness workout stations to test cardio, strength, endurance, power, agility, balance and coordination. This race is the brain child of Callum Meehan, a champion in his own right who has won many competitions around the world such as Hyrox and Spartan. Based on my experience working with him and his Redline Team, something special that I noticed off the bat since they did the first launch early in the year, this team has a sense of unity and togetherness that I don’t see often with event companies or teams in general and I believe that this is a key attribute that allowed the Redline team to organise such a successful event and even more importantly, in creating a powerful Redline community. It is safe to say that I have bought in to what their vision is and I hope to build a long and lasting relationship with the Redline community as we work together towards growing the fitness community in our very own arena, Malaysia. Thank you for having me Redline and I hope that I will get an opportunity to hype up and bring the energy for you all in the next one as well
