There are many things that the Journey team look forward to every year. More growth, more connections established, more relationships flourished.
This year’s The Ultimate Journey was one of them. Though a little bit different than how it was the first time around, it was no less special or exciting. Dubbed “IN10SITY” to emphasise the fact that the competition is run for 10 days (because our team is very creative like that), we witnessed how passionate the participants were when it came to fitness and their own personal growth, which was honestly a source of inspiration for us.
The launch of this year’s TUJ was run concurrently with the launch of our very own Journey Run Club, which we can say–with a sigh of relief–was a resounding success. We had about 50 runners join us for the 5KM morning run on December 2nd 2023, with runners of all levels enjoying their time being surrounded by a supportive community.
One of the more unique aspects of this year’s TUJ was definitely the challenges–we made sure to have challenges in the Ride Room, outside the Ride Room, and JRC challenges to promote a holistic approach to fitness! Across 48 TUJ participants, in teams of 2, they clocked in over 560KM of runs, with 525 bikes booked and 350 burpees completed, among other things. Mind you, these were all accomplished in just 10 days! Talk about impressive.
Though TUJ’s main purpose is to solidify the bond within the community, it is also ultimately a competition, and a few teams managed to come out ahead! Major congratulations are in order for the winners. 1st place goes to Nins&Dibs from Team Kilimanjaro, followed by Spinsta_bae from Team Kilimanjaro and Tenuqué from Team Rinjani for the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
However, we had one little surprise that we purposely kept under wraps until we basically concluded TUJ: The Everest Award. This award, which grants the recipient the prize of one (1) free private ride with the instructor of their choice, is given to the participant who kept the principles of TUJ close to their heart during the duration of the competition. After a unanimous vote, backed by testimonies from coaches, the Journey team decided to grant this award to Adrian Ong from Team JT&AO!
Finally, we'd like to express our appreciation for all the teams that took part, particularly those who genuinely embraced TUJ's core values of accountability and togetherness. Observing this was truly inspiring, and we encourage you to uphold these principles not only within the Ride Room but also in your endeavours beyond it.
Til the next one, team!
